Blessed

Top/Jewelry: Old Navy  Skirt: Gap (thrifted)  Shoes: Steve Madden via TJMaxx

It's amazing to me how my perspective on so many things has changed now that I'm an adult and parent. I now understand my own parents more and have empathy for their sacrifices as they raised me. I love my family and especially my husband! I am so blessed :)

Cool Breeze please

Top: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent (thrifted)  Shorts: NY&CO (thrifted/altered)  Shoes: Target
Jewelery: F21  Belt: Thrifted

I can hardly stand going outside for the 45 seconds it takes me to walk to the mailbox. It is roasting here! So, it sort of gets old when my 1 year old brings me her shoes about 30 times a day hinting at wanting to go outside. I hate sweating. It makes me feel like a need a shower! Ik. I'll dream of a cool fall breeze and taking walks outside with my kids and just hope it comes in September this year instead of December.

Extras from Philly

While in Philadelphia I made it around to see a few more sites. I ate an "original" Philly cheese-steak at Pat's. Meh. Not that great.

I also took a ferry ride from Penn's Landing over to New Jersey.

I love this picture with my Dad :)

I took a seat in New Jersey for 1.5 minutes before jumping right back on the ferry to Philly again!

And FINALLY! Took my first step into Anthropologie! It was magical. Beautiful. Inspiring!

And I scored a pair of sweet blue bell bottom jeans for only $9.95! Regularly $98!! They'll make their debut in.. maybe 4 months when it's cool enough to wear jeans ;)
Fun trip!

My sister Angela's Wedding!

Andrea, Dad, Julie

We slept in on the day of the wedding and leisurely got ready. I love this picture of me with my Dad and half-sister Andrea.
Later, we headed over to the Inn where the wedding took place. It was so much fun helping Angela get ready for her big day!! And she looked simply beautiful :)

The weather was warm but with shade from the surrounding trees and a light breeze it was pleasant.

Dress it up!

Dress: Thrifted  Sandals: Target

A simple casual dress is a great way to stay cool during the hot summer months! Easy to lounge around the house with and even get down to play with the kids! But, you can dress it up a little when you venture out too! Just add a necklace, belt, and wedges like this...

Here I am!

So, I've been back since last Monday but have totally fallen off the blogging band wagon. I feel unmotivated to take pictures at this point. And I have some pictures from my trip, but most with me in are on other people's cameras! So, I'll have to wait for those.

Here is a picture of me with 2 of my half-sisters and my mom. The one on the far right is the one who got married! :)

Later we went to Valley Forge

 Shirt and Necklace: Forever 21
Capris: Aeropostale
Sandals: Ross

-sadly I've already ruined this shirt. Darn "Lay Flat to Dry" instructions!

See ya in a few

I'm heading out in the morning to Philly for my sister's wedding!
I'll be back Monday with lots of pictures :)
And I couldn't go on a trip without bringing accessories! But, how to pack them? THIS was my solution.
Check it out ;)

Do It Yourself {DIY}

I love DIY projects. Especially easy ones! So when I saw the beautiful Jenni sporting some Artist Crop Jeans from AE, I thought, "I could make those!" So I did.
I thrifted these Banana Republic jeans for 4.25, chopped off about 5" and rolled them up. Ta da! Crop Jeans! And I can always roll them up once or twice more if I want a shorter "Capri" look. Yay!

Yes it's true.

Shirt Ann Taylor  Skirt Old Navy  Jewelry F21  Flats Target

I seem to get stuck in color ruts lately. So, yes I do realize this outfit is extremely similar to Thursday's! I will try to mix it up a little more this week :)
And, yes I colored my hair again and it looks a wee bit black. But it's not. It's dark brown. That's what the box says anyways...

Hello sun, there you are again.
It seems like everyday is sunny and then also rainy. It just depends on what time I get ready if I make it outside before the downpour! :)

Blogging Buddy

Heidi from HeidiLuxe is my fabulous friend and blogging buddy who introduced me to the world of fashion blogging! She is witty and hilarious in her writing and just as funny in real life. She is gorgeous and always inspiring in her fashion!
She even took me on my first thrifting adventure at Goodwill! It's because of her I have dared to try so many new things and have fallen in love with re-fashioning :)
Here is our first fashion picture together at a 4th of July BBQ. Good times.

On Heidi:

Independence Day 2011

These pictures are deceiving. It looks sunny and beautiful. It was a nice day this morning, but the clouds have rolled in and it's raining like crazy outside right now. I only hope it clears up a bit before tonight! Rain on the 4th of July is NOT ok! :(
I hope you all have a great holiday!!

Feeling Patriotic!

I picked this skirt up from the $1.00 rack yesterday at one of my favorite thrift stores.  It was size 3XL but was a quick fix. I wanted to just cinch up the elastic instead of chopping up the side. But the elastic was sew on, so it took a little more effort. I unpicked the elastic, cut a new piece the size of my waist, and created a casing to slide in. As you can see in the picture, there wasn't much gathering since the elastic was only slightly smaller than the skirt. So once I added a much smaller piece of elastic it created more gathering to my liking!
