It is almost July! So many fun things going on in the next few weeks! What is everyone doing for the 4th of July? We are going to a local park where there is an outside Orchestra concert followed by fireworks. We've gone the past 2 years and LOVE it! It's one of my favorite family traditions we have :)

I got a little more sleep last night! Yay! And consequently was somewhat productive. Dishes? Check. Vacuum? Check. Swim with the kiddos? Check. And now I'm exhausted again :) Hmm, now what to make for dinner? That's always the hardest part for me...

I wore 2 necklaces today. First time for everything right?! Layering jewelery isn't really that new but I've never felt I could pull it off. Not earth shattering, but it's fun to try something different!

And I wore a bow belt. I love all things girly. Bows, ruffles, shine, and pink. That's me in a nutshell :)

I shopped. Oops! I was at Goodwill looking for something and just couldn't help but quickly browse the dresses. And then I spotted this dress/tunic. LOVE. I just couldn't pass it up. I did give myself 1 slip-up and since it's already June 24th, and I only have 6 days left in my shopping ban, I think I will make it to the end of the month! And I really don't feel quite as bad once I realized what designer I picked up. It's Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent! I'm not in the know when it comes to all the designers out there, so I'd never heard of her before. And truth be told, I can't afford any of her stuff at retail! But, I'll take a thrifted piece for $6.25 thank-you-very-much :) hehe!

Compromise

A good marriage is all about compromise, right?! When we were looking for houses I wanted enough space

for us to grow our family (ie: big house). My husband wanted a nice yard (ie: big yard). 

He won this time.

 And as it turns out, I sorta love the backyard. And I'm glad I don't have any more house to clean than I do. So I guess in a way, I won too. But don't tell the hubs ;)

Worth a shot!

I have 2 kids. I'm lucky if I get showered, dried, dressed and a photo taken most days. So, dragging myself outside to take the photo? Not so much on my list. But, I thought I'd give it a shot today. So, is it worth the extra trouble??

I got this Ikat skirt from Old Navy (which was a dress). It was on clearance for $13 I think. But it had a tear in the back, so a 50% off tag was attached to it. While trying it on I realized one of the straps also was broken, so they gave me 70% off! So I paid like $4.50 for it. And then chopped off the top, and make it into a skirt :) I suppose it would  have been a little bit easier to just get this skirt which was on sale too. But it was $22.50 in the store! I'll take $4.50 ( and 10 minutes with the sewing machine) over $22.50 ANY DAY!

With all this heat my kids are loving going to the pool. I think it's fun too. For a little while anyways. But it sort of a production packing up the towels, suits, sunscreen, toys, floaties, goggles, swim diapers, snacks, water etc etc. And by the time we make it back home I feel like death. Ok, not that bad, but very tired!

And ya know what my pet peeve is? Sunburn on your part in your hair. Because then it peels. And looks like dandruff. Yuck. So, I always put my hair up, but with no part! Much better!

Don't you hate how some colors don't translate completely in photos or look different deepening on what computer screen you use?  This shirt is almond colored in life, but on my computer screen it's looking pale pink?! Oh well...

I guess my kids wanted some face time today. They kept jumping in my pictures!

Double Re-fashion!

I've been planning on working some re-fashions but finally got around to it last night. I don't know why I procrastinated so long. These two were easy and took less than and hour to finish.

Found these New York & Co pants at Goodwill for $4.25. Too short though, so I thought they would make good shorts!

Yes, I am aware I look quite like a school teacher in this dress. And I'm ok with that. The hem and sleeves are long enough and the neckline high enough that I can feel 100% comfortable and not be tugging on anything during church. And for a $6 dress and $1 belt, I feel fabulous!

I made White Chocolate Chip Cookies yesterday with the family. Mmm, they are so delish! And I'll be snacking on them all day I think! I don't like regular chocolate very much (I know I'm sort of weird) but white chocolate is my favorite! And no, I don't like chocolate cake, ice-cream, milk, etc etc. But we can still be friends, right? :)

Some people definitely have the south's weather figured out. So it's nice when they share their wisdom with the rest of us! According the HeidiLuxe a single layer shirt and skirt are a must for the heat. And today I totally agree! Works like a charm.

And yes my hair is wet and wild. We have plans for hitting up the pool later today so it gets to do it's own thing until then. And by "the" pool I totally mean the little plastic blue one in my backyard.
