Boots Baby!

 End of the season means....sales!!
I finally got some nice boots and for a pretty good deal too. I'm just now noticing that both pairs look pretty similar. Oh well, I bought them at 2 different stores. The black ones zip up and the gray ones just slip on.

Right now I think the gray ones are my fav with the cute little buckle on the side. Now I just need some brown ones...he he.

Bummin' it at home

A sweet friend took my 4 year old all day Wednesday. So this is me bummin' around the house all day! I even got a nap while baby girl was sleeping. Divine.

Something about this color combination. I am just drawn to it! I wore something similar just the other day!

Doctor Day

I didn't get ready yesterday. I just stayed in my pj's pretty much all day. Feeling yucky=me. And the only reason I took effort today is because I'm going back to the doctor. It's been 4 weeks since I found out I had shingles. But, back to the doctor I go...

Clutter

Something about all this nice spring-like weather is making me want to de-clutter. I think it might be a little early for a full house "spring cleaning" though. What is it about clutter that makes me feel blah? When everything is organized I feel so relaxed. But, organize = make a bigger mess to then put it away nicely. And with 2 young kids around I do not need to make any more messes! Especially with their "help". Which is no help at all. Maybe next month...

Modest Moments

I remember in Middle School/High School thinking it was so hard to find clothes that were "modest". Now I don't seem to feel that way. True fashions have changed (ie. loose and long tops, capris etc). But, I also just know if it isn't modest to me I wouldn't feel comfortable in it, or feel I look cute in it. Granted, modesty means a wide range of things to different people but for me it is pretty strict. No shorts/skirts above the knee, no tops without sleeves, no bare midriff (not that I would anyways...no one want to see that!), and no low cut tops. Being Mormon is the main reason I have these standards, but they are so a part of me now I can't see myself any other way.
One summer, when I was a teenager, I went to Lagoon with my friends and wore some short shorts (borrowed since I didn't own any). I remember the whole day I felt self-conscious about it. I didn't feel cute. I felt stupid. And I'm sure my skinny little stick legs didn't really look that great in them either!
I guess I'm lucky layers are in and there are so many modest choices out there! It does get more difficult in the hot southern summer (can you say humid?!) but its worth it to me. I want to set a good example to my kids and look appropriate as a mother and woman.

Tuesday

The weather outside is really messing with me. Sunny and oh so inviting. It is even supposed to get into the 60's this week. But, it is so windy! How am I supposed to enjoy slightly warmer temps with crazy wind? I don't know either. It sure doesn't feel 60 with that wind! So, I'll stick to long sleeves. For now.

Impatient

The day before Valentine's Day. So, I was drawn to this little love bird shirt! I'm so impatient though. I asked hubby if he wanted to exchange V day stuff tonight instead of waiting until tomorrow. But, he said no. Bummer. Tomorrow it is.

Saturday take 2

Tonight hubby and I went out to dinner. At church. We are awesome, I know ;) No really it was a lot of fun. Emery had his own little Primary activity and Lucy was happily occupied in the Nursery. I actually got to eat my dinner and talk with adults. It was sort of nice for a change.

Can I have some mustard on that?

Did you ever have that 1 piece of clothing you really wanted but couldn't find ANYWHERE? Mine, is a mustard yellow cardigan. Apparently I'm just too slow because I see them around but no store has them. Maybe mustard is a fall color and they were only available in October-ish? My only hope is the thrift store. Please oh please let someone part ways with theirs (in my size) right before I go to Goodwill :) Thank you in advance!
For now, a little yellow flower will have to do...

Yesterday I had hubby get my pre-pregnancy clothes box from the attic.  They say- "It took you 9 months to gain the weight so give it at least 9 months to lose it", right? Well "they" didn't mention my hips are probably not going to be returning to pre-baby width. Tops fit. SOME jeans fit, but not all. It was fun though, shopping from my attic. I think hubby was pleased as well because at my attic store lets me take whatever I want, for free!

Cleaning day

It doesn't matter how many times I clean my house, it keeps getting dirty. So I clean it again. Today is the lucky day. I've been putting it off, but the # of dust bunnies is appalling and I can't stand it any longer. But, why oh why do my kids have to try and sabotage it? Why today is the baby fussy, wanting to be constantly held, and taking a super short nap? As if cleaning wasn't hard enough with shingles, carrying around  a 9 month old baby while doing it is pretty torturous. Alas, I'll put on a happy face for my picture...

Any day now

Anyone else totally annoyed my Michelle from The Bachelor? Normally people put their best foot forward in the beginning and keep the crazy things for after you know the person a while. If she is like that on the first few dates, how do you think she's going to act later on, Brad?? Not good. Cut her loose!

Thrifting!!!!

I went thrifting at Goodwill with Heidi this morning!! It was fabulous! And so much fun. The only thing that would have made it even better was if I didn't have to bring my 2 kiddos! But, really they were pretty good so I won't complain (today).
Seriously though, that woman has a good eye for clothes!

 Shirt: Old Navy
Cardigan: Gap
Trouser Jeans: Target
Flats: Target

So here is a quick view of what I got. I would have modeled them each for ya but...
a. don't have the time and
b. most need a little work! But that's ok, I'm excited!

I just *LOVED* this silk skirt. But, it is a size 16. Just a smidge too big for me :) So I have plans of taking it in. Never done that before but we'll give it a try! The main thing I'm worried about is the invisible zipper. Right now it's on the side but I'm thinking I'll have to move it to the back since I'll want to take in so much. We shall see!

This skirt is the only one that is wearable right now. It has the sweetest ironed-in pleats!

This dress is also huge on me! But, the fabric i just love! I have plans to make it into a skirt.

This little number isn't very modest! But I think it might make a cute pencil skirt?!

This dress is actually modest. The neckline is so high I think I might go all the way back to the 50's. But it just has a few little holes I need to stitch up and it'll be lovely!

And lastly, I gabbed all these belts! I only own like 2 belts so I know I've got a lot of catching up to do! And at Goodwill these were only $1. Not kidding. And the brown one...Coach. Yep. Good day at the thrift store!

Thanks Heidi! Can't wait until we go again!!

One of those days...

So, there I was thinking this day was going alright. The baby took a good morning nap. I took a shower :) Now, on to lunch. But, kid #1 isn't hungry yet. Ok. Feed kid #2 anyways. Then I realized I needed just a few things for dinner. No problem, I'll run to the grocery store. Except kid #1 still hasn't eaten lunch. And either had I. Oh well, off to the grocery store. Grab a shopping cart (or buggy as southerns like to say :) and move into the store and out of other shoppers way. But wait, the straps have been ripped off of the baby seat. Back to grab another cart. Take it into the store. But wait, the baby seat won't sit flat. GREAT! Back for the 3rd cart. Finally a winner. Off to produce dept and then the deli. Not even 5 minutes have passed and both children are whining. Child #1 is hungry ("We'll be home in a just a few minutes honey!") and child #2 doesn't want to be strapped in the cart. Pick up child #2. Finish shopping. Take stuff out to pay and child #1 starts crying. "what is the matter sweetie?" Oh you wanted to put the groceries up? Ok fine. Put all groceries back in cart so child #1 can do it again. Pay. Get groceries in the car, child #1 in the car, and then BAM! I slam my right knee into the car door. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Hobble over to put child #2 into car. Whimper on the drive home. Get home, and hobble to get kids out of car and groceries in the house. Child #1 is hungry! I start making some mac & cheese and try to get a quick snack for the baby who is very ready for her nap. I ask child #1 to get baby's water. He starts shaking it furiously until the lid open as drenches the baby. Nice. Dry children, finish mac & cheese, change baby's clothes and diaper, and FINALLY put her down for a nap. Oh, and now I can eat lunch. At 3:15pm.

What I was going to wear

This is what I would have wore if I had made it to church today. But, in the end I had to stay home with the kiddos. Little boy was all lethargic yesterday. He seems to be doing better today but I like to err on the side of not spreading sicknesses. After being a Primary teacher for a few years I've come to appreciate people who don't bring their sick kids to church and expect someone else to watch them!

 Shirt: Old Navy
Sweater: Old Navy
Skirt: Gap {Thrifted}
Flats: Target

I wasn't going to wear my nice *ironed* white skirt all day at home. So really this is what I wore today.
 Oh well.
Dress pants: Express

I said I was going to try and make my next outfit more jazzy. So I did the side bun and work cheetah flats! Yeah, no. Still not a very jazzy outfit. So this is me trying to act Jazzy. I'm such a goof.
