What I found

 Goodwill has been pretty good to me. A little while back I found this vintage dress. I haven't worn it yet and I'm looking for some ideas of how to style it. I just threw on this white belt and heels for the pic.

 I'm thinking of shortening the sleeves sort of like this...

 Maybe a little shorter? Any advice would be appreciated!

Belt It!

Why is it that just adding a belt really makes an outfit? I dunno. But, as a newbie to belting, I am just sad I didn't discover it sooner ;) Of all the belts I have 99% I got at Goodwill for $1-$2. In the last 2 months. I will never pay full price for a belt when they are so plentiful at the thrift store!

Goodwill Grab Bag

 Anyone else ever wonder about how some things end up at Goodwill? It's such a grab bag, you really never know what you'll find! More often than not, it just a bunch of junk. But occasionally (and this is the draw for me), you'll find a gem! Case in point: I found several items with dry cleaning tags on them?! Did the dry cleaner dump stuff that didn't get picked up? Did someone clean their clothes only to donate them before ever wearing again? Hmm. I guess I'll never know. But I am counting my lucky stars I found this stuff. This skirt from BR is one of the items I found with dry cleaning tags on it. And who'd a thought, also in my size. I didn't end up getting all the items with dry cleaning tags on them (even though they were all BR) because I am at the point where I need to be a little more selective in my purchases! If I don't love it, I don't buy it!

Island

If you could only take one thing to a deserted island what would it be? I'd bring my mustard cardigan :) Seriously I love love love it. I really want to wear it every day but I'm trying to restrain myself. But not doing a very good job!

I went with my family to the temple today in Columbia, SC. We didn't do any ordinances, just a tour and some pictures. It was chilly out but it was so beautiful nonetheless! We had a family day with our church ward. I think someone said around 100 people came! It was awesome!

ps-Yes I am aware BYU lost. And no I don't want to talk about it...

Today is The Day!

Off day

And by "off" I mean feeling blah and not so cute. If I'd meant "day off" that would be far more exciting! But let's be honest here, moms don't really get days off!

Have you ever gotten all ready and then realize you hate what you are wearing? Not just 1 or 2 things, but like the whole thing. Like, get naked and start over again. This was me today.

 But I wasn't feeling it. Probably because I starting building this outfit from the capris. I tend to have better luck when I start with a piece of jewelry or top. Not sure why... Black goes with everything right? Anywho, so I only wore this for about an hour before I decided to start all over.

 I ended up in Skinny cargos though which may not last long if it makes it to 80 degrees today. I need some skinny capris! I feel weird wearing a looser top without a more fitted pant. I'd bet that by 2:00 this afternoon these skinnies get swapped for the black capris even if they don't really "go". Whatever, sometimes comfort wins around here!

BYU Blue!

In honor of the AWESOME BYU win last night, I wore blue to church today :) All I can say is: the Zags got Jimmered! And this is a perfect example of how you can wear your favorite sports team color and be girly at the same time. Love the maxi dress! Hate the word maxi. Ewe, it reminds me of that special time of the month. Anyways...

St Patties Day!

No surprise here. I'm wearing green today. But, I never realized how hard it is to wear green. If you pair it with red=Christmas. I ran through a variety of cardigan options (navy, mustard, purple) before finally settling on this pale yellow stripe. Honestly the fact that it is short sleeved helped with the decision as it may get up into the 70's today. Yipee!

I have to take my wonderful MIL to the airport today. I really hate it when her visit comes to an end! Seriously. And my little boy has already shed some tears over the impeding good-byes. I really got lucky in the MIL lottery. She is sweet and generous and oh so easy to get along with. :) Just sayin'. We just hate that we live so far away from the gradparents! Oh well. I suppose there is some reason we ended up here in South Carolina. And we'll probably be here for a while.

My MIL had some jewelry from her mother that she wanted to pass on to her grandkids. I picked this ring out for my baby girl. I think my daughter will love to have this special piece from her great grandmother one day. But, since she is only 10 months old right now, I'll go ahead and hang on to it for her :)

 

My son sweetly said to me this morning, "Mom, when Grandma leaves, I'll take care of you." Just love that kid.

Under the weather

I'm feeling a little under the weather this morning. Ik. I think I get double points for putting on make-up today. And getting dressed. Because all I want to do is crawl back into bed!

A little more...

I am a mother. And I love my children so much. It is a challenging job though at times. I make a lot of mistakes and am learning a lot as I go. Today though I'm going to try to be just a little more. A little more patient, loving, kind, gentle, and grateful. I can be just a little more today.

It's crazy windy outside. Which makes my son VERY happy. He gets to go fly his kite with daddy. And I get to blog while the baby naps. Sounds like a good Saturday to me...

 I am such a purse person. Love them. And apparently I am a purse hoarder because I just realized I still had one from middle school. Yikes! Why I thought I could still need this jem, I don't know. It was black woven 6" by 6" square, with a super long strap. And flat. You could fit like $20, 2 keys, and chapstick in it. That is all. These days I'm need some roomier bags. With diapers, toys, snacks, etc etc, we need some space! So I did some purse purging. Very therapeutic.

  I don't buy as many as I used to but when I get a new one, it makes me happy :) Especially when it has yellow and gray!

And I love that it has a long strap too so I can throw it over my shoulder when I'm carrying the baby!
